Jersey Joe / Rime
Born and raised in New York City, Joe began his graffiti career as a sixth grader in 1991. With the name “Rime” Joe started off doing tags and throw-ups (the raw basics of graffiti making). Joe eventually found more room for creativity through piecing. In 1995 he moved to New Jersey and partnered up with Nace (r.i.p) and began pursuing more advanced forms of wildstyle lettering. From 1996 to today Joe has traveled to and painted in over 17 major U.S. cities , 5 European and 2 Asian countries. In 2003 Joe took on 2nd alias “Jersey Joe” which would act as his identity in the fine art scene. In 2005 Joe founded The Exchange, an elite group of graffiti stylists from North America and Europe. Now based in Los Angeles Joe works closely with The Seventh Letter Crew and MSK on art based murals and gallery shows. Joe’s mission is to solidify the idea that graffiti is a viable and innovative art form. With the hint of pop culture’s welcoming back of graffiti art, Joe realizes it is up to the artists that are actually out there putting in work to be responsible for the way the art form pans out in history.
